Thieves-Concentration
Thieves-Concentration
I was looking through the list of skills of a halfling thief. Concentration was on there. A thief as far as I can tell has no spells. I also read the help file just to make sure there wasn't another purpose for the skill. So my question is, why do thieves have the skill of Concentration? Don't get me wrong, all these skills are nice, but just unsure on the purpose.
If my memory serves me correctly, I believe someone posted about concentration not too long ago.
This game is based off of DnD rulebooks, and its them that give thieves (as well as various other non-magical classes) the concentration skill.

In table top concentration checks can be called for just about anything the DM deems it can be applied to. Thieves being skill heavy in tabletop, I would almost always cause them to roll when they use certain skills in stressfull situations. I dont know exactly how the concentration skills works in the mud, but if it is applied in the same way it would make sense.
Example.
You are hanging over the pit of certain bloody death attempting to figure out a way to escape before you finally drop.
A fly lands on your nose and then continues to buzz about you.
Roll a concentration check versus a certain DC (Predetermined number you need to beat). A save means you succede in concentrating on the task at hand and find your way to escape.
A fail on the concentration roll means you fall to your death.

A sapphire haired male aasimar replies to you 'What would you get Tanya for a wedding present?'
You reply to A sapphire haired male aasimar 'A swift kick to the head. '

Because I read the help file to concentration, I never bothered training it. I really do think thieves everywhere could find it most usefull if it were a skill that affected you for a time, but without you knowing when it has ended (like sneak, or hide).
If concentration meant staying hidden better, or keeping your fingers out of danger while they're in another players purse, or while kneeling down in front of a door, lock picks in hand.
Just something to make gameplay more interesting, is all.

I don't want to steal it...no that would be too easy...
I want them to give it to me willingly
