Mining and it's left overs?
I was talking to someone and heard that Sulphur and a few other things that are viable to find while mining are pretty rare or expensive. So I thought I'd propose this idea. Why not when mining for each attempt made it would make a pile of rubble from all the hacking at the ock you do? Then the rubble could be SCAVENGED for anything useful. You might find gem ore ore chips useless thigns at best. Shards of ore that could be smelted for a low quality metal. Sulphur blocks that could be SMASHED or GROUND into a few bits of sulphur. Perhaps even rocks that could be SMOOTHED to make the smooth rocks for other spells. This would give mining even for those low in the craft a source of income from all there working and a slightly cheaper but still hard outlet for other components? I am sure there are a few other stones or items that could be gotten with the rubble from mining so post your thoughts and idea's on this if you would!

I am really in love with this idea. And we already have grinders, so one of the processes explained is already taken care of.

Re: Mining and it's left overs?
I can implement some of this idea in the area I'm currently building - a soft code prog on a mining pick to intercept the MINE command and throw out random items.
Give me a list of existing raw materials or components that are valid and I'll see what I can do.
(I should warn that I've been working on this area for about 3 years now, so it wont be an immediate addition but hopefully in the next few months)

Re: Mining and it's left overs?
All that you posted Skeas would work except charcoal now pure coal would work. Also what about junk pieces like marble, limestone and such that would be sold to a stoneworker somewhere?
Aww we have all the time to wait for your area Kel! I bet it will be a great zone. Quality over quantity for sure! ^.^

Coal is what's mined. Charcoal is made from burning organic material (mainly wood) until it is mainly composed of carbon. Perhaps a coal object could be made that would work exactly like charcoal?

I'm prettysure that Gem Powder can already made by a PC
Weit in der Champagne im Mittsommergrün,
dort, wo zwischen Grabkreuzen Mohnblumen blühn,
da flüstern die Gräser und wiegen sich leicht
im Wind, der sanft über das Gräberfeld streicht.

Re: Mining and it's left overs?
That doesn't make it any less logical that you could technically mine it.
Beshaba potatoes.
Re: Mining and it's left overs?
Maybe when you accidentally destroy a gem as your extract it there can be a 10% chance of getting gem powder.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Perhaps have it based on wisdom and or dexterity to quickly gather it up into a small pile of powder?Gwain wrote:Maybe when you accidentally destroy a gem as your extract it there can be a 10% chance of getting gem powder.
