Aarakocra are a race of bird-like people who call the mountains
around Toril home. The intelligent Aarakocra enjoy flying about and
from a distance, one might mistake them for eagles. Aarakocras stand
about five feet tall and their wingspan exceeds twenty some feet. A
typical unlaiden aarakocra would weigh as much as ninety pounds.
Halfway down one's wing there is found a three-fingered hand, which
only has use when the wings are furled. Their powerful legs end in
talons that can be drawn back. The head of an aarakocra resembles that
of a eagle crossed with a parrot. They have deep black eyes and
grayish black beaks. Female coloring is usually dun while males are
bright reds, oranges, or yellows.
Aarakocra, like many of the rare races, think themselves superior
to all others. They pity those who can not fly and often criticize
them for their lack of mobility. Aarakocra have a deep need to travel,
seeing the ground roll beneath them pleases them. Aarakocra's favoured
class is that of a fighter.
