Rarely encountered by the landbound races, aquatic elves are a
civilized and goodhearted people. Mostly they can be found in the Sea
of Fallen Stars, and the Great Sea to the south, though enclaves can
be found in Faerun's western oceans as well.
Standing over 6 feet tall, aquatic elves are not as thin as their
surface cousins, though this is the least striking of their features,
when compared to the gills upon their collarbone and ribcages. Strong
swimming muscles adorn long limbs and webbing lines the spaces between
fingers and toes, lending their adaptation to their underwater homes.
Most of the Aquatic elves from the Great Sea are green of skin tone,
with brown patches, while their kin from the Sea of Fallen Stars tend
to light blue, with white patches or stripes. Their eyes run the
spectrum from deep blue of the sea, to the green of the deep forest,
to an earthy brown.
Of all the elven races, Aquatic elves are the least involved with
arcane spellcasting. Not to say they are do not exist, but the ratio
of spellcasters to non-spellcasters is much more reminscent of dwarves
than elves. While aquatic elves venerate the Seldarine as other
elves, their true deity is Deep Sashelas. Many who follow the call of
divine spellcasting, worship the Lord of the Undersea.
