How To - Report a Bug
For full details, please see the forums at http://www.forgottenkingdoms.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=7165
If you encounter an error or deficiency in the way the game works or provides information, whether it is simply a typo in the text, a quest that does not operate correctly, a helpfile deficiency, or a command that does not work properly, please report it in the Bug Reporting forum at url=http://www.forgottenkingdoms.org/board/viewforum.php?f=51
If you can readily do so, avoid giving out IC information when you describe the issue on the forum; that will allow us to make it so that all can read your post, and you can readily follow progress on its resolution. This also helps prevent duplicate postings on the same issue. If your report contains IC information (about your character, such as alignment, or about a quest, for example) it will be kept invisible to the general playerbase. If we have time, you will get one PM (private message) about the issue once it is resolved. Sometimes you can't avoid including information like that, so if you have to do so, go ahead. Your post will remain invisible to you and the general playerbase unless a code team member reads it and OKs it for public viewing.
The following are guidelines on how to report bugs efficiently so that they are fixed more quickly:
Be as detailed as possible in your report. This involes many things:
A)Logs are a bug testers best friend. If you have a log but it is too IC to post, please PM it to a known Code Council member (appears under their names in the forums) and they can place it in a separate forum; or you may post it to the builders section of the forums and they will get it to the attention of a code council member
B)One of the most helpful things when it comes to testing is an object/room/mobile's vnum. To obtain this use the ask channel to locate a code council member or IMM to gain this information for your bug report.
C)The third best thing to place in a bug report is how you found the bug. If we can find out how to reproduce the bug faster, it will move through thee system even faster.
Of these three things it is understandable if you cannot supply some of them, we just ask that you do your best. And please, please, please search the forums before you post, the bug might have already been reported. You can always reply to that posting and supply more information.
