Gray Dwarves

Dwelling deep in the shadowy realms of the Underdark, gray dwarves
also known as Duergar, are a mirror image in most ways of their light
dwelling brethren. Master craftsmen, in both metals and gems, unlike
their surface kin, they are a grim and cheerless people filled with
bitterness at the supposed injustice that has been done them. Though
their work rivals that of Gold or Shield dwarves in craftsmanship
they take no joy in creation, merely continuing a life of endless
drudgery.

Gray dwarves stand about 4 feet tall, and unlike their often stout
cousins, they are normally broad of shoulder, but lean, and wiry.
Their bodies are covered with whipcord tough muscle. Their skin is
either light, or dark gray, and both males and females tend to
baldness, with males wearing long beards.

Many gray dwarves tend to be fighters, with quite a few rogues as
well, as the dirty tricks appeal to their cruel natures. Duergar
wizards, though rare, are highly respected for their abilities to
enchant and create magical weapons. They also have a strong divine
spellcasting tradition, with clerics of Deep Duerra gaining prestige
amongst their clans, and positions of power.
