Roleplaying a dwarf

Dwarves are a stocky race who seem to be a part of the earth itself. They
range in colour from clay-red to stony grey. They have a deep distrust of
magic beyond the kind which a magical axe might have. They tend to be sullen
and withdrawn. The dwarven people are declining in population for two
reasons. They have, for ages, engaged in wars against other races which have
bordered on genocidal for the caverns and mines which they call home.
Unfortunately, unlike the goblins, the Dwarves have been slow to recover from
these losses. The knowledge of this decline in their race tends to give
dwarves a pessimistic and melancholy behavior yet, just as often throw
themselves into their work, whether it is crafting fine weapons or
adventuring. Dwarves are deeply tied to their roots. They have classes of
nobles and commoners. Surface dwarves despise and hate the Duergar dwarves
who are subsurface dwelling cousins who are hated in the same way elves hate
the drow. Use this information to mold the character development of your
dwarf.
