Laws and Roleplay Help
There are many laws in effect in Forgotten Kingdoms. Some depend on where you find yourself in your travels, but some actions (murder for example) are outlawed in most of the kingdoms.
Please note...mobs are people too when it comes to being victims of a crime. You can be outlawed as easily for attacking one of them as any player character.
The most common crimes which people are convicted of are attempted theft and theft, attempted murder, and murder. Each city across the has its own law system and its own law-keepers. Some are far harsher than others when it comes to punishment or leniency.
Waterdeep soldiers for instance jails thieves and murderers. Zhentil Keep guards aren't as vigilant.
The shopkeepers in Waterdeep are protected, and killing them or attacking them is considered against the laws of Waterdeep. Other towns have similar rules. Those caught stealing from these shopkeepers will be incarcerated by the guards Waterdeep until such time as their release is granted by the gods.
