Sir Alitar Mierchi

Sir Alitar Mierchi was the first of three children born to a young and
loving family that owned a farm near Daggerford. Life was peaceful for
his early years, until tragedy took his family and left upon him those
vicious scars that mar his face. The farms destroyed and his fair home
in ruins, a young Sir Alitar was found barely living by bandits roving
into the tragedy's wake. His would-be fatal wounds had been tended ere
their arrival by someone unknown, and so found himself pressed into an
unwilling service to the bandit company.

Blood was involved in his escape, but escape he did when he neared his
sixteenth nameday. Cold and ardurous travel brought him to the City of
Splendours where he met with the Shepherdess Vantessa Taril, and in so
doing began his long service to Lord Kelemvor. It was this Shepherdess
who sponsoured Sir Alitar's entry into the Halls of Justice, where his
journey to knighthood began in earnest under the tutelage of Sir Briek
Blackthorn. Sir Alitar's time as a squire was long, his service handed
between a few knights of the Halls before Sir Liric saw to it that his
training was completed.

When he was found to be ready, Sir Alitar was visited by Lord Kelemvor
who lifted him personally to Knighthood and declared him the Deathlord
of Lord Kelemvor's Church. Sir Alitar gave his solemn vows to his Lord
and served dutifully for a long time in this capacity. Towards the end
of his time as Shepherd to the Church, Sir Alitar was named the Master
of the Eternal Order following the death of its former leader.

Since then, Sir Alitar has been known as a paragon of his church, ever
stalwart against those who would harm the living or the dead. They who
know him find him to be fair and polite, though never overly friendly.
