corpse2
If you die, your corpse will remain where you fell, carrying upon it your possessions at the time of your death. A player's corpse will decay to dust after 18-20 real-life hours, spilling out all their belongings onto the ground, where they will remain until the game reboots, or someone picks them up. Corpse decay will happen even while you are linkdead or after you quit.
Corpse short descriptions will specify the name of the character if you have greeted them; otherwise you'll just get the adjective, sex, and race. In the latter case, identification is made by the description, so it is important that your description meets the requirements outlined in the description helpfile. Should you find yourself in the awkward situation of having to deal with your own corpse, you might consider burial ('BURY corpse'), cremation ('COOK corpse'), or ritual sacrifice ('SACRIFICE corpse', generally considered an evil act), as befitting your own particular ethos.
* Young characters who's corpses are found by more seasoned characters will often be picked up and delivered to the Corpse Conservatory in Waterdeep. If you can not find your corpse, please enquire there. If you do not know where it is, please ask about it in-character.
* Corpses of dead NPC's are lootable ('GET all corpse')
* Items on the ground from a decayed player corpse ARE lootable, but taking such items carries with it an IC risk their owner may seek to reclaim them
* Corpses of dead players SHOULD NOT be looted, except as described in the PKill helpfile, and any looting of a player's corpse is logged.
