Not connecting unless I use FANG

I downloaded a small free MUD client which has the option of changing the font. However, I found out I can't connect to www.forgottenkingdoms.org, no matter which port I use. I can't use the built-in telnet either. I'd have thought it's a ISP issue if not for the fact FANG (or the FB client, also Java-based) work fine.

Any help? Or maybe someone knows a Java-based client which would allow me to change the font?

Try "forgottenkingdoms.org" instead of "www.forgottenkingdoms.org"

Tried it already, tried again. Nope. Something (my computer? my ISP? my firewall?) blocks anything which is not Java-based.

I already tried messing with firewall settings, too. Doesn't help.

We'd need to know what client it is to help. Random clients are kinda odd.

I have a little netbook by Toshiba who's screen is no bigger than an iPad and I downloaded zMUD and it works perfectly. I can connect, and even log my sessions.

Trillarel, have you tried using port 80? That is the only one that works for me from work.

Zmud would probably be fine but it requires registration which costs $20, according to their site.

If you go to the PLAY section up top and click on zMUD, it'll download the zip for you freebies. Don't think there's a registration cost. At least, I was never prompted for one. Got it about a year ago, so my memory's pretty bad on that.

Fang connects on port 443.

EDIT: I updated Zmud, used default settings and it works. The default font of Zmud is much better than FANG's. However, I can't change it, or vt100 breaks completely.

It doesn't break. You have to fiddle with things, I use a text from default myself. But it's nothing that can be taught specifically, you have to play with your settings.
