Joining the mages guild

Post by Narishmar » Wed Feb 13, 2013 11:59 am

So, I've just joined the mages guild in the School of Wonder on my wizard. I'm capaple of now looking at all of the available spells to learn, and can enter the guild hall behind the recruiter as well as use the shops within it. But when I type "score" and look over my character sheet my class is left as "Wizard." I am unsure if this is a bug or intentional coding.

I am not sure which PC this involves in this case, but I saw this last night when PC Bisben joined the illusionists' guild. In that case they were shown as an illusionist when I used the finger command, but the score sheet only showed wizard under class instead of illusionists.

This applies to all wizards. The class is Lirith's scoresheet lists wizard too. I would say it's intentional or was an oversight when changes were made to the score sheet, but either way it shouldn't affect any access to the proper guilds.

I suspect it is the same for squires. Scoresheet says warrior and the "skill" page says squire.

I was working with Aunwald on it last night. I was pretty sure it was supposed to show up as <insert guild here> when you joined a guild, and not just say wizard. I couldn't remember if it had been changed on purpose, or not. I told him it shouldn't affect his guilding though, just that you don't see you are a mage/invoker/conjurer etc on the score sheet.

We use the "guild" system for specialization, so FINGER SELF will show your guild, but your class will remain unchanged and that is what is shown on the SCORE sheet. I've been confused by this too, though! Moving this to suggestions.

To put a coder point on it, I believe the suggestion is to replace the Class entry on the SCORE sheet with Guild? (It looks like that used to be the case, given the helpfile has a link to guild but not to class? There might have been a reason for the change, though? It might have been because many of the guild names are too large to fit in the available space, that's my guess.)

Yes, essentially.
