Hi friends,
I was thinking about a possible RP venue for a character of mine, but first I would need to ask to all those who often play spellcasters.
How much often do you have to acquire/produce/buy spell components? Do they last you long?
Also: Are there any particular components that are difficult to acquire?
No particular details needed, just a general answer to ponder the viability.
Thanks in advance.
Magic component availability
Re: Magic component availability
As far as I can tell, spell components have been retooled to match some standard rule descriptions. They usually last for several dozen castings depending on the spell or component.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Just from watching (not playing, mind you) spellcaster - the hard the spell, the hard the component is to find and the easier it goes POOF! Even without having a spellcaster, I can think of a few hard-to-come-by components.

Re: Magic component availability
Over the last couple years the spell components have been changed around to last longer. Much, much longer. Also availability has been changed to be more substantial. There might be one, or two out there you cannot get super easily, but by asking, and using spells to locate, you should be able to find 95% of them.

Re: Magic component availability
Most components are no problem for me. There are a few that are a pain to acquire. There are a few I still cannot find. There is one I can only get through alchemy.
Also, I disagree with the oft-expressed idea that hunting for components promotes roleplay. The short conversations that result contribute little, though I do enjoy helping out fellow players.

Thanks for all the feedback so far, it has already helped me taking a choice.
