The Opposite of Light

Post by Aysa » Wed Nov 05, 2014 12:09 am

There are such spells like "Light" and "Continual Light"... and then there is the Darkness Domain...

However, there is no "Darkness" spell or "Continual Darkness". What are the chances (or coding likelihood) of these being available?

For Drow, I could see them taking advantage of these spells. Though, I suppose one could argue that in the Underdark, it is always dark. So to have need to create something that is always there could be a bit of a mystery. Still, I could definitely see a need for the spell.

If need be, it may be something that Vierva begins to research as a 'Test of Worth' or what have you to Lolth. To develop a prayer that conjures up the Darkness.

Thoughts? Comments? Observations?

I know in D&D Drow have the ability to drop "Darkness" on their foes. Which is wy faerie fire is such a powerful tool for them. This darkness is all consuming, but the magical light of faerie fire allows them to see their foes in the darkness. Would be kind of interesting to see something like this put into place.

Didn't we use to have this? I seem to recall it existing, and it actually causing darkness that nothing short of a copyover could expel.

Just ran across this while thinking of a Darkness spell, though a bit different maybe than what's been mentioned here already.

What I was thinking of, would be an "anti-continual light spell" of sorts. Basically, when cast by whichever caster for whatever reason, it essentially removes the Continual Light spell on an object/item. Possibly even dis-enchanting an item entirely at GM levels perhaps?
