Is there a way we could buy "coin moulds" and at the precision forges mint our own coins from the precious metals we mine?

Maybe based on the quality of the ingot?

I am not sure about moulds for coins, but it would be cool to have moulds for "bars of platinum" and so on that you could exchange at the bank for coins. A bar = 50 platinum coins or so on. Maybe it could take a like 20 ingots of "low" quality and like 5 ingots of "outstanding" to make a bar.

I would think any merchant caught selling mint-your-own-currency moulds is about to be in for a bad time with the local authorities. Trade bars would be pretty cool though!

Possibly. There aren't any international forgery laws though and all of our coins are simply "gold coin" not a Cormyr coin or a Thayan coin.

There's a dozen ways to do this, but at the end I'd just like these lumps of silver/gold/platinum to have a realistic value beyond turning them into cones or hourglasses or whatnot.

I'd say trade bars could be darn useful! Would give a payout for mining! For when no lapidarist/weaponsmiths/armourers aren't around.
