I came across this thread just recently. I had no idea this was a thing.
Does anyone happen to know whether it is still a thing? And if it is, I wonder if there is reason why it isn't, at least far as I can tell, something most builders use. There is the small inconvenience of having to set qbits etc. if one wants to use this command in a greet prog, but other than that it seems like something that could be super useful. Or are there other side effects that make it not very practical in many situations?

I use it all the time. The big thing to remember is that you must stop the program from triggering multiple times; I usually use a QBIT set initially on the NPC to accomplish this.
