This maybe a a mute question but with out a propper Wiz(only clerics) my knowledge may not be the best. Since to my knowlege this is the only mud that uses this kind of system of memorizing a spell before casting, practicing the spell just requires that now instead of only casting. With memory purge and memorizing mutiple times an come inept student could in theory be a master with out ever casting the spell. Is this true, or just my imagination?

Memorisation has nothing to do with training a spell. In order to gain skill in a given spell the caster has to successfully cast the spell. So you can not sit in a room all by yourself and GM spells.

I just tested this, and I can put your mind at rest. Wizards do not learn from memorising spells, but only from casting them. I memorised and forgot 12000 spells, and saw no improvement whatsoever.
