Monks and Psionists?
Monks and Psionists?
Why don't we have these two classes in the game? Mind over matter... focusing energy, bare-handed fighting, and such. Psionists, at least, are not at all unheard of in Forgotten Realms.

I'm actually looking for a job, to start next September. If you can guarantee me a good salary, I'm willing to spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, building new areas, setting up animations, and writing detailed suggestions and perhaps code to implement those new classes and many other things!

And they say sarcam is the lowest form of humour...
What matters the most is how well you walk through the fire.

Psionics can be utilized by most races, but it is a talent you are born with rather than can learn, I have the Complete Psionics Handbook about 3 ft from my head, but its a long reach when you're sat down...
Suffice to say it is a playable class, although Illithids are generally recognised as the masters of this rare skill...

More seriously (since nobody seemed willing to offer me a job), the monk class has already been briefly discussed and will most likely be introduced ... when the time has come. Nothing has been said about the psionic classes though, since they are not really part of the well-known background of the Forgotten Realms.
Really? I always liked the illithids, and Kimuriel, among others. Although the entire game seems to be less based of Salvatore's FR.
The psionist class is not unheard of in many AD&D games, as a result there is already a great arsenal of skill lists and playing idea one can have easy access to, even premade codes.
Just trying to convince you

Issy (can I call you that? ). What I think Dalvyn is saying, is that "psionic" characters as they are do not exist. I have never really looked at them in much detail, but the idea of having psionics has never fitted in with the Realms campaign setting. In the Forgotten Realms: Campaign Setting, it has a brief mention of them, where it mentions it is nearly unheard of.
Illithids, etc, are in the Realms, and are quite often featured as the "baddies" of a novel. Those creatures are different to "psionic characters" however, who are something very... different.
So, yeah. Some of that might be wrong, but that's how I see it.

If you have knowledge, let others light their candles with it.

Actually....
As we've touched on Psionics, which happen to be my complete and utter devotion when it comes to D&D, there are quite a few listings for Psionics in the Realms.
Venom's Taste actually just came out in paperback, which is the second in a trilogy of Novels, with a Psion for a main character, dealing mostly with Yuan-Ti also whom have psionics.
The East actually has lamasery's which are monastaries that train Psionics and monks.
Also, as Ziv said, the drow House of Psionicists.
So I wouldn't say that they are unheard of, they are rare, but definitely DO exist.
