Merry Christmas :)

My son is asleep in bed, facing West in his North/South bed (head to the north) where our electric train is loudly purring as it traverses a makeshift, snow-laden land. He put out milk (over my suggestion of spiked egg nog) and candy cane specked rice crispie treats, rather than cookies, for Santa. My wife and I are monitoring http://www.noradsanta.org so we know when to expect the big guy to put those presents under the tree. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas. It feels good to say that because when I teach I have to be less myself. We all believe what we do, or don't. It's nice to just say it like we see it. I love that about FK. Our diversity is refreshingly honest and non-restrictive. I consider myself fortunate to have met the people I play with, some in person, and continue to enjoy your company year after year. My current students have adopted "Happy Hanachrismaqwuanzikahh" as their word of choice when telling others they hope that good cheer and friendship finds a way into their hearts over the next week or so. Regardless of how you choose to put it, I wish you all a peaceful, enjoyable time of year.

As a special side note. I really miss my former students from Vista Verde and if any of them get this message, "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and whatever else makes you happy!"

"Happy Hanachrismaqwuanzikahh" to you all. ;) Being a former student of his (although we didn't say it then), I still felt inclined to say it.

I think you're being a bit of a recluse, Janon. You moved away to avoid us, methinks. Just kidding. :P

PS: Revolving around Christmas, why is it 60°F (14°C) right now at night?? I mean, c'mon, it's Christmas, as least be cold! We're setting record highs this year for the winter... it's rather odd.

Happy Holidays!

Post by Andreas » Sun Dec 25, 2005 7:48 am

This is the first holiday season of any kind I've been able to enjoy with my husband in nearly two years. Being able to get to Germany on time (had a passport mix-up) and spend Christmas with him is probably the best present I could ever hope for. Right after that was getting in touch with some of my best friends from high school whom I'd not heard from for twelve years.

It was a very rough term for me (accident, illness, apartment fire, etc.) but I made it through and I'm looking forward to what the new year brings.

I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season!

28 degrees is NICE! 104 degrees fahrenheit is 40 degrees celcius.. I just about jumped in the freezer. 26th December was nicer still about 38 degrees.. we hung out in air conditioning and ate seafood :D
