Tracking from mounts

It's a pretty straightfoward question. Should rangers be allowed to track while mounted? Track to me would be a ranger looking in detail for clues to find certain individuals, or a group of individuals; somthing that I think would be very hard to do from atop a mount.

Depending on their level of expertise, a ranger would be able to follow tracks while mounted. If there are many tracks leading in different directions, they would probably need to dismount in order to get a closer look.

I agree with Rhelian that it depends on the situation and what you are tracking. And that tracks are not just footprints. I'll give you some examples: If you are tracking ground squirrels, then yes, you dismount and evan crawl instead of walk. But if you're tracking a giant, you will clearly see, not just the footprints but the broken branches and upturned boulders. Anything else in between, occationaly get off your mount at RP the picking up the animals dropping, smelling it and guessing that the beast is 2 hours away to the north. Or something like that.
