Is there any spell in the game that can perhaps make a person beserk and attack a random person in the same room as them? I think that this would be a great and wonderful spell to the roleplay I will be bringing and I was just wondering if one exsists or if one could possibly be created. Thanks
Well, given that one can't cast charm person on PCs, I doubt that a spell forcing IC actions on someone would be possible under the same policy. However, there is an abundance of spells available that confuse people or poison them or otherwise affect their mental state; while that may not be the same, it may be as far as you can go with the current code.
Just as a side note, perhaps a different title, say, "Spell suggestion: Forced Beserk" might make it easier for coders to find if they do implement such an idea.

I've always been fond of Tenser's Transformation, turn yourself into a powerful half mad barbarian warrior and beat the living daylights out of all your friends. It is a very interesting and unpredictable spell. And I do agree with Hviti a forum section called thought is not that appropriate for a suggested spell, it would be much better to put the type of spell you are suggestion as the subject title, I actually opened this post thinking that you wanted to discuss a thought related spell
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Forcing RP on someone is not always good. Making them attack someone else would affect more then one person... If the person has to go and then they are attacking someone... because of this spell... it would not be fun...
Plus... I don't think they are too fond of adding new spells into the game... seeing as they just finished coding over 150 new spells.

The reason for the title being thought, was asking if there was a spell or I was thinking of such a spell. And if anyone is aware a beserker does not recognize friend or foe. And I was wondering if it would be appropriate to have a spell that put someone into a frenzy. Making them attack a random person, it would be obviously a highly difficult spell with a high risk of failure, but would cause mischief. And no offense Hviti but many spells are in the game and cause mental confusion but many people do not take that in account from the RP that I have seen. Althought I haven't used it in RP as of late. But I would like to see a spell that could cause mischief and chaos as opposed to just dealing damage. Perhaps even a spell that would discobobulate a persons direction they hit n for north and go west but hit north again and go south. I think that would be rather fun, perhaps having the feeblemind spell mess with a person's speech.
The spells I'm talking about are ones like color spray and poison. Those cause mental confusion...coded confusion of a sort. You might not RP confusion from, say, a magic missile, unless it hit you in the head or something, but color spray can blind you or stun you or otherwise affect you mentally - the help file even says Illusion (Pattern) [Mind-affecting]. Poisioning spells already do discombobulate PCs after a fashion, just as anything that reduces mental state (I don't know if they make you unable to go in certain directions, but they certainly make you see...um...interesting things).Gregal wrote:And no offense Hviti but many spells are in the game and cause mental confusion but many people do not take that in account from the RP that I have seen. Yes, that is the (one of the) stated points of the spell forums...suggestions of new spells. I mean, you had to think of the idea to write it down.Gregal wrote:The reason for the title being thought, was asking if there was a spell or I was thinking of such a spell.
The only reason for having a different title is that "thought" doesn't really relate to the stated spell idea, so if someone actually does want to code it/find it for future reference it might be more difficult to find. There's something about titles in the "Use of this Forum" thread.
Seeing as flame wars are quick to erupt in forums, I'll put down the obligatory disclaimer that none of my comments are meant to be offensive/attacks on anyone/thing, living, dead, or undead.
