hero greets
hero greets
My priest of Umberlee decided to ask a Silverstar if he wanted to have tea with him. (don't ask) When I contacted him, I found out that he had never actually greeted me. There was no way, except through memory, to know if the characters had greeted each other.
Would it be possible for the who list to show some sort of mark when a hero has greeted you? Or is it IC to assume that you know them by fame?

If you look at them and it shows their Adjective, then you they have NOT greeted you. If it shows their name then they have. Its ok to "know" a hero by fame if you run in similiar circles with them. But you should not be able to pick one out of a crowd unles they have greeted you or spend considerable amount of time with you.
I always handle it based upon what is in a person's title and by the person's tag on the Who's.
If your title says for example, you are the only priestess of Tyr.... well that sort of narrows it down when I see you doing something clerical, who you are. Hmm? Does that mean I am going to stride up and ask you for a coversation? Not neccisarily, but if you are some awe struck kid, you might.
Same goes for people who are listed as being Forestarms, Silverstars, what is my other favorite one... oh Huntsmasters, ect. I assume their name is out there. If I hear it, I can zero in on who it might be. Doest aht mean I will remember their face later? Absolutely not. Depends on the character I am playing. But at the samet ime, when you hear that someone is the Silverstar, for example, there is an RP bit of awe seeing someone who is that close to their chosen Goddess or God. Does awe work for everyone? No. It's kinda an RP thing.
But that's how I handle that.
If you have a title, your name is out there. If someone addresses one of those people by their title, you can guess it down to the handful of names it could possible be. (I think it's like a maxium of two or something.)
And then, in some cases... well..
There is only one blind, lame high minion of Kelemvor who is easily found in the square in waterdeep. There are some patterns that are easily figured out if you have the idea that heros are talked about by the common people. Or if you have someone described t o you in such ways.
I don't think we need any more "greeting" systems. As it is, it gets crazy if you are in a room full of people if you should greet who you are speaking to or greet everyone at large. Thank goddness my primary characters has the memory of goat cheese at times.

Well, if i remember well, if he is online, it will only show "blabla is online", no last connection info or such so no problem of privacy.
And there is an option so you can't be finger on, isn't it?
