Can my priest follow Waukeen?
Can my priest follow Waukeen?
In regard to the New Gods coded announcement, I have a question. Now, I know the announcement is old and all that, but I'm new and read it a couple days ago. Now, I know Waukeen can't be worshipped yet, but my question is, can I create a character with the intent of having her join Waukeen's faith when the option arrises? Like, keep her from having any chosen deity until that time?
Now, the answer to that should be yes, so I am making a statement as much as clarifying a rule. If someone wants to have a servent of Waukeen or Bane it seems reasonable to me to start preparing a character in advance. Well, that's my idea at least. Noone else has to do it. I just happen to be a fan of Waukeen, so, yeah, it's worth it to me to prepare a cleric in advance.

Due to that fact of the age of that post, I am not positive so don't hold it against me but I think she is a coded deity now.
Yes you can create a character(when ever the sever wakes up) with the intent of following a non coded deity but don't rely on the fact that you will be approved. Many non coded deities share portfolios with existing deities so its not the end of the world if your app is denied.
On a side note characters out of the norm that require apps are a difficult RP to be had. Having experienced this I remind you that especially if its a character from FR lore be prepared to follow that char to the sentence for everyone else will once they find out who you are and that it is a FR lore character.

Waukeen is coded, but will not be accepting followers until the roleplay to return her to Faerun is completed.

A cleric when created has access to basic prayers and (almost) the same set of skills that a faithed cleric has. You can remain unfaithed for as long as you wish.
Characters from FR lore are NOT something that may be applied for. Some 'auctioned characters' have existed in the past, but creating a character and giving it the name of an existing Forgotten Realms character from a novel, game or setting is not allowed.japcil wrote:On a side note characters out of the norm that require apps are a difficult RP to be had. If we posess one of these characters are we being asked to remove them from our accounts? What is the standing of current created characters?Kelemvor wrote: Characters from FR lore are NOT something that may be applied for. In most instances, when we authorise names we are able to pick up the realmslore characters and the names are disallowed.
With regard to your character, the name would not have been allowed had the Imm who authorised it made the connection.
Unfortunately, this does mean that that particular character can not continue to be played as the realmslore character so named and described.
It should be fairly straightforward to allow you to rename the character so that you do not lose out on kismet or playing time invested, though it may require one of the Admin team to make the change.

To add to this - Auctioned Characters are not included in your main account. They are put in their own account with it's name the name of the character. Usually Sharni supervised the creation of these to ensure this, I guess this one slipped through. :) Maybe apply to have it moved? :)
Beshaba potatoes.
So, um, if I were to base a character, name and description, on a FR minor character that would be bad? I mean, I based my would-be cleric of Waukeen on Randalla Brasshorn, I even named her Randalla.
Randalla, forthose who don't know, is a merchant in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2. She's a minor character you rescue from Kobolds in the games prologue, and who helps you through the first act, and hooks you up with the Harpers. By helping you, I mean she provided information.
So yeah, my cleric, Randalla, is based on her. So, would that kind of a reference be bad? Do I need to rename her next time I log in to that character?
(Yawns) It's so boring waiting at the North Gate for the thing to open up, lol.

Not bad per se, just not currently allowed.Leohand wrote:So, um, if I were to base a character, name and description, on a FR minor character that would be bad? I mean, I based my would-be cleric of Waukeen on Randalla Brasshorn, I even named her Randalla.
The name will be disallowed and you will receive a message askign you to rename the character.Leohand wrote:Do I need to rename her next time I log in to that character?
You do not have to wait for the Gates of Waterdeep (wild stab in the dark that it is this city to which you refer) to be opened, they will be opened for you if you answer the guards' questions.Leohand wrote:(Yawns) It's so boring waiting at the North Gate for the thing to open up, lol.

I didn't know that about the guard, lol. Okay. Because waiting around wasn't fun at all. No sirree. I changed the name, by the way. I used Randalla's information on a name generator and it came up with something completely different, lol. This is how I came up with the names of all my characters.Kelemvor wrote:Not bad per se, just not currently allowed.Leohand wrote:So, um, if I were to base a character, name and description, on a FR minor character that would be bad?
