Locked Doors

Post by Lerytha » Tue Sep 26, 2006 10:38 am

I was confused about the doors and locks lesson.

Which room do you put the following in?
DDIR_NORTH
~
door~
EX_ISDOOR|EX_CLOSED|EX_LOCKED QQ10 QQ37 0
Example:

I have a landing, and the door to the north is locked. So I thought, I'll put the locked door on the exit to the north. Will this work? Or do I need to put the locked door in the room to the north, going to the south? Or both?

Just a tad confused, and would appreciate the words of wisdom from our wonderfully experienced builders. ;)

It should be both.

It is technically possible to make a door between rooms A and B so that, when going from A to B, the door is locked and closed, and, when going from B to A, the door is open. It does not make sense though... so both directions should have the same EX_ flags.

Thank you very much. Now that you say that it seems it was very obvious. *thwaps self*

Also, make sure when you do your door resets, make the resets for the door in both rooms.
