I have a question about selling things in general in more of a professional capacity in the cities in FK. I have a character that would like to get into the merchant's business and I am uncertain other than PMing the IM's or turning an application into the RP thinger email where to find out how to get a "permit" for lack of a better way to do such things. Especially in Waterdeep, I assumed that you probably had to do SOMETHING to show that you are selling things.
Uh. Help?

Confusion heard his voice, and wild uproar Stood ruled, stood vast infinitude confined;
Till at his second bidding darkness fled, Light shone, and order from disorder sprung.

I wasn't sure 100% cause I finished a quest that gave me access to the guild, but I have never been able to get any further.
Thank you though. I will spend more time hunting.

Also, for what it is worth: When I first started in the game there were several freelance merchants about (Rilm, Kristopher) that seemed to have set up shop in Waterdeep simply by amassing a cart full of interesting items and advertising their presence by word of mouth and written notice. I don't know that they did a great deal of business, but they were both characters, fun to RP with, and nearly fixtures in the square. It didn't *seem* they had any kind of merchant's permit, but I was a complete noob at the time.
To the best of my knowledge there's nothing in the legal charter presently that would prevent any from conducting free barter upon the streets of the Deep, provided they didn't yell about it obnoxiously.
