Smooth talk feat - Request

Post by Aliatris » Sat Feb 17, 2007 1:01 am

The help files should advise that a neutral character will no have any benefit from the feat and that a neutral character can't request equipment, too bad I discovered it later.

PD: Particularly I think that there are occasions where a neutral character would request/demand something.

It is already stated in the request help file that only good aligned characters may use the command. If you wish to discuss having it available to neutral characters please do so in general discussion, not the bug forum.

I meant to change the title of this thread before I moved it from bug reporting.

Should neutral characters have access to either demand/request. Perhaps both?

I believe the inital post was to ask - Can a warning be added to the help file of smooth talk to state: Neutral characters cannot use the request command. Or something along thoese lines.

Smooth talk feat
================
Your people are accustomed to dealing with strangers and foreigners without
needing to draw weapons to make a point.

This feat improves your chances with the request command.

To gain this feat you must be from Silverymoon, Waterdeep or Ballabel.

Please see help request for the restrictions of the request command.

(A) Request

Request
=======
Syntax: request <object> <mob>

The request command can be used by characters of good alignment to request
equipment from other good aligned mobiles. This is an excellent way
for a good character to gain equipment, however, that character is not
to give that equipment away to other players, or sell it. Appropriate
methods of disposal include burning it, or giving it to mobiles.

NOTE: Do not give the equipment to leveling mobs who will likely be killed.

(A) Object Commands (B) Smooth talk feat

It's there, if you look. :)
Beshaba potatoes.

I made those changes after his original post for the help files.

He referenced at the bottom that there would be a time when a neutral char will demand or request. Therefore I moved the thread here to discuss making those commands available to those alignments.

Your druide might be having successful request because her hidden alignment might vary from her known alignment, though it may also be a bug. Just avoid using request until you are sure.
May you find the knowledge you seek. If you find something else, it is still knowledge, and as such, still a gain.
