CURRENT BUG IN GAME

Post by Dalvyn » Sat Feb 24, 2007 9:05 pm

The player files are not saving anymore (it already happened a few months ago). That means that all the training you might do, the shopping, or the questing, will be forgotten.

Until you are told that those problems are fixed, it is better to stick to roleplaying (since this is the only aspect of the game that will not be forgotten).

It is getting harder and harder to Role Play even with the constant crashes...

Is it caused by something happening by the Players? Or is it in attempt to fix whatever is wrong?

As far as I can see, the crashes happen when someone tries to create a new account or a new character. But this is based on the logs I saw, and I can't be sure about that.

The game has been wizlocked (i.e., you cannot log in) till the bug is fixed.

In the meantime, go for a walk outside, or plan to build a new area, or plan for a roleplay you would like to set up for example!

Hopefully, all those problems should be solved tomorrow.

Remember: there's no day like today to learn how to build areas and to read those builder web pages!

Does anyone know yet if it's safe to create characters? I confess I tried to make a new one earlier today, and I hope I'm not the cause of the crash-- it kept kicking me offline at the "choose a name" stage, but I figured I may have run out of alt slots. If character generation seems to have a tie to this bug, though, I don't want to try again and risk mussing the game.

I guess that Mask will post on here once he has fixed the problem.

As far as I know, there is no such thing as a max number of alts.

As of yet... it is NOT safe to create characters or do anything but RP with players...

The game is NOT wizlocked (as stated above)... I believe the game crashed after being locked... or before the lock could be placed and negated the wizlock.

This problem appears to be fixed for the moment. If the situation changes we will post again in this thread.

Have fun.

The player files save again.

BUT creating new accounts (and, I guess, new characters) is still making the mud crash though.

I have no idea why the game crashed at this point.

It happened right after a copyover, and the new versions of the areas work perfectly well on the test port (it's currently up and working). I sent a mail to Mask, who is the only one who can do a thing about it at this point.

The mud is back up, and the bug above has been fixed... so this can be de-stickied!
