I've been seeing something lately. People are just lugging corpses around like they're a box of luggage. Just grab it, put it in the inventory, carry it to Market Square and just drop it off, or even carry it around for as long as a week. In my mind, this is extremely poor RP.
An average sized human male weighs approximately 200lbs. Added into this the weight of full armor, weapons, and the tons of stuff _I_ know I'm always carrying, and it's an not inconsiderable weight. Not something you just throw over your shoulder...it's something you drag in, like the 300 pound weight is is, and drop as soon as you can. Even if you have a 400 pound carry limit, that's still an unbelieveable amount of weight. For example, I can carry well over 200 pounds of stuff on my back IRL, but I know that even just that much weight wears you down SO FAST after even just a hundred feet.
The other thing about corpses to remember is that they _stink_. They smell horrible, and if anyone has ever live game hunted, they can attest to this. Part of this is the fact that as soon as a person dies the bladder relaxes and empties. On top of this, most of the deaths in this game are very violent in nature and involve *lots* of blood loss. IRL, are you going to haul a corpse around for minutes, hours, or even *days* if it stinks that badly andd it coated in blood?
Finally, remember that death is a very emotional thing. Even a dead cat in the road elicits a reaction from many people. If you are going to bring a corpse in to MS, especially that of a friend, you might want to consider staggering in with tears flowing and your friend's corpse in your arms, lamenting his passing. As opposed to:
John walks in from the north.
John drops the corpse of a human.
John says, 'Is there a priest that can raise dead?'
Sally says, 'Sure, one sec.'
Sally says, 'ooexcuxile mughrafr'.
Jack is raised from the dead!
Jack empties the corpse of a human.
Jack wears all of his equipment.
Jack says 'thanks'.
Jack walks north.
John walks north.
Talk about a completel lack of RP.
Okay, that's my rant.
Carrying our corpses roleplay
Inventory is a funny thing, In the game, it's a number. 19/20 items in inv. 380/400 lbs of weight. What they don't realize is that, filling such numbers to the brim is not always... Comfertable for your character.
I remember bringing this us in a Bulls Str post that, while it is possible for your character to lug around their full 400 lbs capacity, it should be only done when the need is there. Hoarding equipment just for a rainy day will become very uncomfertable for your player. I even dress down some of my chars for adventuring and for lounge wear. The point I am trying to make is that, yes, I can see someone heaving a corpse onto a mount or, even a stronger PC, over their shoulder to take the corpse to town. But just walking around with it tucked under your arm is generally bad rp.
