Supplicated Items

Post by Wybert » Tue Dec 09, 2003 12:12 am

According to the helpfile there are 3 items for each deity to supplicate. This does not inclued the 4 newly coded gods as stated elsewhere in this forum.

Syntax: 'supplicate <supplication>'

Supplicate begs your deity (if you have one) for aid. You may supplicate
for any of the following:

Avatar -- summons an avatar of the deity
Object -- summons an object of the deity
Recall -- sends the player back to his recall point
(bypassing norecall flag).
Resurrection -- brings a PC back to life

There are three possible objects that can be supplicated for. In order to
make sure you get a different one, you must make sure you are wearing any
objects you have recieved before.
SEE ALSO: REMAINS, DEITIES, FAVOR

In practice however I found this is apparently not true, wearing the first item I had supplicated as the help file instructs I then roleplayed out my supplication for the second item and I recieved an identical item to the first and all favor was gone again. Granted some items it might make sense to have more than one but in the case of my characters deity a duplicate of the first item is a waste.

Since all gods do not have 3 items to supplicate is it possible to amend the help file or post somewhere on this forum the deities that do not have 3 items so that a player does not simply throw away all their favor for no reason? A simple list of godnames and number of items for those that do not have 3.

Thanks,
Wybert Wugglesnorffle.

Sence when does recieveing the higest honer a non-high Priest of a faith can get considered 'throwing away' of favor? Wouldnt just calling it that be considered blasphamy?

Note that the IMMs and builders take a considerable amount of time to code and build said items. Having been in a faith for nearly a year and only having one item to supplicate does not mean there should be more, nor does it imply that ataining another ofthe smae object lower my standings in the faith it just lowers how often the Gods will pay direct attention to my calls.

I agree with Cret. It is not the staff's responsibility to post how many times one can recieve an item per each diety. The items are a privilage, if you chose to spend your favor on supplicating in that form, it is your loss. There are ways beyond Imm's telling you, you could have easily asked a faith member what items they have recieved from your Lord/Lady, and such on. You cannot blame the staff for your own lack of effort.

Yeah but...

Yeah but the help file is a bit misleading though...a not so experianced player who usualy takes the help files as dogma, would read that and think "hmmm it says there are three, so what am i doing wrong?" asks around and finds that there is only one item, I would feel a bit mislead by that too. Maybe if it said something like, 'Not all of the Gods have all of their Items coded'. If it said something like that in the help file I could possibly agree with Cret and Mele and say tough cookie, but you do have to agree it is misleading.

I agree with Rhytania....and also what about the Clerics? Doesn't it take favour to raise the dead and to cast a lot of their Diety-specific spells? Now if a cleric uses their favour to supplicate an item and gets the same thing as the first time....then they don't have enough favour to do the things that make them a cleric.
