Armies

I was curious as to armies in the game. Are there any standing armies? If so where and what is required to join? If not, is it possible to organize something like that? I am most likely wrong, but I am not aware of any volunteer armies at all. Anyway, just wonderin'.

Two questions:

1. Test port. Is this accessable to players for the sake of beta testing?

2. Would a character (theoretically) be able to assemble an (NPC) army of soldiers or creations?
