[EVENT] Joust of Peace

Post by Harroghty » Mon Apr 28, 2008 1:16 am

TO WHO SHALL SEE THIS, GREETINGS. I propose a JOUST OF PEACE to be held
At the town of Hillsvale in the Forest Kingdom of CORMYR. I propose this
Event be held in three months time (OOC: Saturday, 10 May; 1200 EST) at
An hour to be named as the day draws nearer. Riders of any faith and of
All creeds may enter by declaring themselves to HARROGHTY of CORMYR some
Time before the event (IC is preferred, forum PM is OK if necessary) and
Pay a fee of two platinum to support the expenses of the Crown.
Must appear with the following kit:
--A mount that is near in size to a horse.
--A mundane lance and hand weapon.
--Physical armor of your own choosing.
Riders are disallowed to participate with any cantrips or spells of any
Kind cast upon them before or during the combat. The crown of Cormyr is
Petitioned to provide courtesy lances for the event.

Also, this notice petitions venerable adventurers to fill THREE seats as
JUDGES to decide the matter of each combat. (They will decide the value
Of stikes and the winner of each match.)

PEACE to you as go.

Out-of-character:
I have applied for immortal support with this event but it will happen rain or shine. The tentative time line right now is available here:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/f ... c=0&p1=179
To sum up requirements:
A horse-sized mount.
Non-magical lance (or spear) and sword (or ax, hammer, mace, etc..)
Magic armor is okay.
Spell affects are not.
Any alignment, church, etc.. is fine.
There is a fee of two platinum for participation.
Hecklers, well-wishers and cheering sections are welcome and appreciated.

Will jousters be asked to get bardic heralds?

I hadn't thought of that but it's a wonderful suggestion.

Hecklers, well-wishers, cheering sections and bardic heralds are all welcome and appreciated.

There will be an unknown amount of regular old mundane lances available to riders at the joust courtesy of an "anonymous donor". Remember, a mundane hand (melee) weapon will still be necessary and not provided.

Well, as much as it gauls me to say it: Dalente won the joust. Congratulations.

To everyone who came and enhanced the fun. Thank you.

To the judges, Sade and Erling, thank you for facilitating the fun.

To the admins, thank you for your help in preparing for the event.

I think was a fun event for everyone and I hope to do another like it eventually. We'll see when and how that will happen, we may make some small changes to the order of events. Cheers!

It was extremely fun! Thank you.

The final match between Hasryn and I had my heart pounding and my hands shaking in anticipation. It was an excellent event. Best ive been to in a while actually. Id like to thank the judges and Harroghty for doing such a great job as well as all the people who came to cheer them on.

Also, thanks for making it open to everyone to give my lil Cyricist a chance for fame and glory.
Glim asks Gwain 'Can I be on the watch?!?'
Gwain raises an eyebrow.
Gwain seems to display a look of complete horror for a second...

So you all rode on Ostrich?
May you find the knowledge you seek. If you find something else, it is still knowledge, and as such, still a gain.

QUARK!

Thanks for organizing the event, Harroghty! Superbly done, and not an easy event to marshal.

My kudos to the jousters: the RP of the jousting was solid, across the board. So too the spectators, who kept me howling with laughter, and replete with tarts.

Isaldur: Oy, I didn't suffer nearly as much collateral damage IRL. All I had to deal with was five hours of grading I didn't get done, and having "We Will Rock You" stuck in my head for the rest of the day. I didn't turn into a bird, thankfully.
