How do you roleplay seeing your own corpse?
How do you roleplay seeing your own corpse?
I've wondered this for a long time, and I asked in the PK forum, but how exactly would a character respond to seeing their own corpse? Most people would go mad at the mere thought, you're lying there, dead as a doornail,a nd looking down upon yourself. Any thoughts on this?
And they ran through the bush
And they ran through the bramble
And they ran through the briars where the rabbit wouldn't go
They ran so fast the hounds couldn't catch 'em
And I stumbled on my beard and I had to let 'em go.

Rebirth is something that is never taken lightly. One sees themself as a cadaver and can react in so many ways, for the insane, they see something to relish a hand puppet maybe, for the strong willed and somach they see something that is a shell and nothing more, something to be buried and put to rest. For the young and ungainly, the beautiful, the corpse is something to scare them and an omen of sorts, their life left on the cold floor, cooling and crawling with vermin and sadness. There are horrors in this world, to see yourself dead on the ground is traumatizing when you live. I think most would be scarred and soiling themselves unless they have the greatest self restraint. I think in the end it relies on the char. I myself would rather bury my corpse as fast as I can for the sake of not having to look apon it.
Putting the idea in perspective for myself, I think I would be severely creeped out and have to sit down for a good long time. Either that or I might be left wondering "what the heck is real?!" while I try to determine whether that really is the me of before life that is not me now life laying there on the ground or if its is just a freaky trick of mind or mirror. Or, if I had just risen out of shock/sleep, I might not even notice for the first while or two...
So if you'd like to know how a character would react to seeing theirself lifeless, I think your safest bet would be to think of how you would react to seeing yourself lifeless.

That would totally depend on the character. I have alts that would be disturbed, others that would joke it off, and still others that would accept it for what it was (no more than a vessel for what is truly the essence of the being) and would be unmoved to react in any significant way.
Dealing with death is a very personal issue and facing one's own previous mortal form could provoke a vast array of responses.
