Where have all the jacinth gems gone?

Post by Atheliyan » Sat Sep 20, 2008 11:59 pm

ok, I have a wizard that uses jacinth gems for both shadow walk and teleport. every so often i go and restock on my spell components just like most spell casters do. for the last couple weeks though I have noticed an extreme shortage of one very important component, jacinth gems. I have checked both Waterdeep and Zhentil Keep for this item and both stores appear to be sold out. Is this something temporary? Will jacinth gems come back to the two main component shops or will we have to find other means to find them from now on....that is....if there is other means to find them.

I have seen this, and even posted on it myself, though the items in question were different. If it is the same situation as I have found my magic users in, it is most likely that there is a set, finite number of those items in the game at any given time. Some may be in shop's storerooms, in PC's packs/pouches, or stored away for a rainy day somewhere else. If the game detects <X> amount of the items, I think it limits how many are available to the component shops. Thus, some items from time to time become rare and, if bought from PC's, oft times more expensive than if bought from a shop. At least, I think that's how it works, anyone feel free to correct if I am mistaken. :)

Where is my Wulfgar
Where is my Paladinson
Where is my happy ending
Where have all the gemstones gone

So basically, you have to log in at 4 in the morning and then go searching ;)
Listen up! People pay good money to see this movie! When they go out to a theater they want cold sodas, hot popcorn, and no monsters in the projection booth! Do I have to come up there myself? Do you think the Gremsters can stand up to the Hulkster?

The two main component shops are player run shops. There are jacinth gems sold in the "restock" stores for player run shops. The players who RUN the shop has to come on and restock it though. So be patient, unfortunately some of the players are not the most active due to irl =)

The shop shortage aside, that is an interesting question. Are there alternative means to attain jacinth gems in-game besides shops? Not looking for in-game directions of course, but yes or no would be helpful.
