I find it odd that, dispite the number of times Gilain has been asked this question, no one has brought it here.
Can the metal grinder turn mined rubies into ruby dust rather than generic 'gem powder'? Not sure if the grinder's code can check keywords to differ it from other mined gems, but cant hurt to ask. Considering the rarity of actually finding a ruby-set room, I doubt ruby dust will be flooding the market place with this change.

Re: Metal Grinder
I agree wholeheartedly.
And also, if I might suggest:
Can we make iron nails and iron dust with the forge as well?
There's a couple of other bits that can't be made (metal-wise), which probably could be?

If you have knowledge, let others light their candles with it.

Re: Metal Grinder
I may be absolutely wrong about this, but...
I think all of those player-mined gems may have the same vnum?
The reason I suspect this is if you sell one type to an NPC merchant, then sell another type, the second gets 1/2 its normal value regardless. (Tested on WD Merchants).

Re: Metal Grinder
Yes, as with many mined or smithed items the vnum is indeed the same for all mined gems.

If you have similar suggestions, feel free to send them to the builders address instead of posting them here.
But I can already tell you that the answer will be "no" to grinding rubies into ruby powder While ICly, that might make sense, the component was chosen to be worth a lot ... creating a process to bypass this price would just defeat the purpose. If ou insist on being able to grind rubies into ruby dust, then we would have to change the component to something else!

Re: Metal Grinder
I actually expected it to be a no, either a code issue or the price point. I mostly was looking for an official standing on ruby grinding to fall back on the next time it comes up in-game. Thanks much,
