Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
This is totally off the cuff...
What do people think about another joust next weekend (that is 31 Jan or 1 Feb)? Is that agreeable? Location, program, etc.. are all still floating around in my mind and are yet to be solidified, but I'd love to hear people's opinions on the timing, please. Thanks!
Oh, and who likes the idea of a tournament? (That is a match with two teams of mounted combatants, like a simulated battle, as opposed to a joust, which is only one-on-one.)

Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
yeah i like the idea of another joust so soon but perhaps your idea of full combat instead of one of one sounds good aswell just to make things different
Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
I am proposing both. A joust like we've had but ALSO a tournament with some combat between teams.
Remember, the idea of tilting (the joust) only evolved from the tournament (it kind of served as a rehearsal for war); they expanded the event when people realized it was entertaining to watch people beat other people.
I'd love to see some of the newly dubbed knights get out there and get dirty.

Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
Squire! Attend me!
I remember I played this old medieval game where they had a "tourney proper", which was basically just swordsmen beating the crap out of each other in giant teams for the honor of whichever noble sponsored them.
I think a 3 on 3 melee or larger, would be cool. And maybe doing so in the name of a lord or lady PC...with the colors that lord demands, in mock fealty.
Either way, I'm game.

Listen up! People pay good money to see this movie! When they go out to a theater they want cold sodas, hot popcorn, and no monsters in the projection booth! Do I have to come up there myself? Do you think the Gremsters can stand up to the Hulkster?

Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
I would love to attend another joust, but the 31st is no bueno for me. I would also love to see a melee portion added, but the tilting takes hours as it is, would we have enough time to do a melee on the same day?
Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
middle age royal rumble, so as a tourney of sorts there would be all sorts of different event's boasting different weapons and such?
Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
What about Sunday, 1 Februrary?
And, no, the more I think about it, the program looks like this. A run of jousting to completion (this is like seven matches with the average turn-out) and then a melee (just one) with two teams of mounted combatants.
I am thinking that team with the higher-scoring performance in the joust would have the first hit. Both teams would attack on KILLMODE SPAR with lances ONCE. Then all the opponents would switch to melee and have it. This would simulate the charge and then falling to melee as it would in a real battle. The team with the last man standing would win.

Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
I can do any time after 3 eastern on the 1st.
Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
The 1st is the same day as the Trade Fair if it's still going ahead.
Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
Okay. Here is an official proposal of program and time/date. The event will be on 8 Februrary at 2100 UTC/GMT (time/date) and will consist of jousts (each three courses with lance, three courses with melee weapon) and one tournament (a melee battle between two teams of mounted combatants). Prizes are still being resolved. The proposed fee is three platinum per rider to cover expenses and fund prizes.

Works for me.
Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
Who: You on a horse, with heavy armor (magic is okay), with no magical trinkets, and with a mundane hand weapon (any ax, any bludgeon, any sword).
What: The joust is this weekend. The Emprise of the Boar.
When: The event will be on 8 Februrary at 2100 UTC/GMT (time/date)
Where: To be determined. Default is the fields in Hillvale (halfling village by the intersection of the High Road and Calantar's Way, not Hartsvale in the Spine of the World mountains).
How: The event will consist of jousts (each three courses with lance, three courses with melee weapon) and one tournament (a melee battle between two teams of mounted combatants).
Why: To have some knightly role-play.
More information to follow. There is a good chance that a representative of the Cormyrean college of heralds will be present.

Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
Ahhh, I will not be able to attend and defend my title. My apologies, I have religious obligations to fulfill that day.
Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
This is only a reminder. There is no updated information. Location, time, and date remain the same. The joust is this Sunday.

Location has changed. Arrive at the Bridge of Fallen Men (the High Road between the Storm Horns and the Sunset Mountains) at this time (time is the same):

There is a jousting yard there.

Re: Joust of Peace 3 - The Emprise of the Boar
As with all other jousts thus far we will be allowing late entrants in Round One.
If you arrive after Round One has been concluded then tough noogies.
