Dragon Magazine
Dragon Magazine
Sometimes, Dragon Magazine has more in-depth information regarding areas, Immortals, other notable characters, and the like.
I was wondering if someone in a high rank of the church might be able to flesh their God out a bit more using this information or if it must go through some form of approval process first?
I think it would be really cool, personally, after having found even more information regarding Tempus and I would be more than willing to share.
Thoughts?

Re: Dragon Magazine
Dungeon Magazine and Dragon Magazine, when using articles specifically geared for the forgotten realms setting, are considered canon. I don't think anyone would be opposed to it.
Listen up! People pay good money to see this movie! When they go out to a theater they want cold sodas, hot popcorn, and no monsters in the projection booth! Do I have to come up there myself? Do you think the Gremsters can stand up to the Hulkster?

Re: Dragon Magazine
I've always considered any information from sources where such heavy hitters as Dr. David Bray and Steven Schend to be fair and reliable; in other words "official." I've used information found in the Realms-L discussion forums as well as Dragon and incorporated it into the game before.

Dragon #317. March 2004 Vol. XXVII - Number 10
It has two articles you'd enjoy:
p. 76 Battleguard of Tempus - The consumate warrior-cleric of Faerun's god of battle.
p.80 Faiths of Faerun - A look at the faith of the Red Knight, Lady of Strategy.
Generally, I believe that the more depth in role-play you can provide, the better. If you ever have any doubts about incorporating it (in concert with the respective faith manager) then the easy answer is to refer back to applications at fkapplications@lists.skynet.ie
I can say with experience that the administration is receptive to adding more depth in role-play if you are prepared to cite your sources and explain the benefit to the game that your idea provides.

If you see room for improvement in the helpfile of your deity, that's always of great interest too!

Re: Dragon Magazine
As long as you stick to pre-4E Dragon Magazines (and pre-4E Forgotten Realms), more information is always better.
Re: Dragon Magazine
I suppose that although it might seem straightforward, it's good to remember that something that is canon isn't necessarily known by the PC's, the more obscure, the more unlikely, and if a characters shows that he knows a piece of real obscure lore, he should have a good reason of why he knows that, which (in my opinion) some of them you would only be able to know if you applied with a logical justification (and it was approved).
Re: Dragon Magazine
Also... putting my FM hat on. If you read an article that contradicts an FMs position, could you run a summary of the article by us OOC first, maybe through PM or email? I know Lerytha's occasionally made silly mistakes IC, through her player's OOC stupidity. But I would find it a bit awkward for a character to contradict and then point to a source I can't get hold of (lack of money plus living in Britain makes Dragon magazine hard to find).
I think "World" info is fine to just add in, personally. Always someone to contradict you IC, makes it fun. But faith issues might need a bit more diplomacy. I know all of you here are the soul of tact and diplomacy, but for the future generations reading this thread, it is worth a thought!

Re: Dragon Magazine
I wholeheartedly agree.
Unless something can be found via avenues in-game, they should never be used to contradict an FM without informing them OOC first. It's a courtesy.
I'm just thinking more along the lines as to bringing it INTO the game.
