Elven sub-races
Elven sub-races
I have a couple of older characters, elves to be more specific, that were created before the sub-races of moon, gold, wood, etc, were coded in. They get a lot of odd looks whenever they are seen. Though I have written their description to give the impression of one of the sub-races, I still find myself wondering if I should just scrap them and start with new characters using the current coded subraces. Also was wondering if they, being pre-code could be considered against any rules. Any ideas, anyone?
Re: Elven sub-races
I believe there’s still a great deal of players that play the “simple elves,” (The elves created before the sub-races were implemented.) Myself, being one of them. =) Including the descriptions to what would have given the impression of their sub-race, before the code. I see no reason why anyone would have to do away with there characters because of the current code change. I’m not quite sure why they would be getting odd looks, however, that is no reason to get rid of your character, if you do not want to. =) Of course, you can always create a new character if you wanted. As for the pre-code being against any rules, I think that is still in discussion. I will try to find the link to where Dalvyn began the topic of a small reset.
EDIT:: Okaies, I found the link. =)

Thanks Nearraba! I had forgotten all about that global reset post, it answered my question pretty much, and I'll have to keep a close eye on it in the future.

Re: Elven sub-races
It is a simple matter to change the race of the character from elf to 'moon elf' 'sun elf' 'wood elf' etc.
If anyone playing an old-style elf, dwarf halfling or gnome wishes to be changed to one of the sub-races simply post your request to the Complaints Reporting forum for us to consider.
Include your account and character names as well as a brief note on what sub-race you've been roleplaying them as.
Please note : sub-races which are not currently available as player characters will NOT be an allowed change. (So no Wild, Arctic Dwarves or Duergar please)

Re: Elven sub-races
If the change is made from old style elf to one of the sub-races, will there be any change in the stats/feats/ etc? I've spent a good bit of stat points and feat points on this char, and not sure what, if anything, would be lost or gained from making the switch other than the visible race of the char.

Re: Elven sub-races
The racial stat bonuses would apply if you are changed. The effect on stats would then depend on the chosen sub-race.
You might lose constitution and gain intelligence or dexterity with certain elves for example. Or gain strength or constitution and lose dexterity or charisma with some dwarven races.

Ah, I see. If it's alright, I think I'll just leave them as they are, for the moment at least. Thanks for all the great insight, though.
