In addition,
Talc seems to be missing as well. It used to be easy to find, now I cannot find it for sale anywhere I have looked.

Talc isn't missing, but like many other components you have to know where to get it.

Black Onyx gems appear to be only available in player run shops.

Hmm couldn't darts be found on random bandits or somewhat stronger mobiles? I have been asking around for a couple days and only the forge is it's only availability and I can't get any metal to try. hmm Ah well that being said back to the game! :P

There are plenty of ways to obtain metal, too :)

Is it just an impression, or are many of the problems caused by a lack of information sharing and in-game support for organisations that would gather/sell components (e.g., a PC merchant's guild)?

I was fairly much under the impression that telling other characters where to find components was mostly taboo. Answering a specific question was all right but telling them out and out was tantamount to solving the 'quest' for them. Otherwise, I'd have written out a list by now and pinned it to the noticeboard in the Mages Guild..

Better, still ... you can set up component gathering expeditions. That would generate more roleplays than just pinning the list (though the list is fine I guess, but the locations might change too).

That has happened, repeatedly. Heading to Undermountain for the sake of gathering yuan-ti eyes...

...then being chased off by a great big evil vampire... :D

But, just for clarification here (I was at work when I posted last), there wouldn't be any objections to a list being written up??

Brilliant. Not to mention add to the world as a whole. If you need help compiling the book, Elke, I'd be glad to work with you.

Is there any way we could get a bi weekly or copy over to fix the precision forge? I was told I should ask on the forums so I thought this would be the best spot. <.< I been wanting to play with the forge after my first time and the time delay is making it impossible! Well either or thanks yall.

Interesting idea, but, books are prohibitively expensive for low-level characters...

Make it like the WD newspaper, it only costs like 1 copper. Or pin it on that board with the newspaper on it.

If you want to do something like that, my suggestion is to write an article for the paper, and get it to Peverell. Maybe cover a few components with each article. Save them up, and compile a book eventually. Or place an ad in the paper saying you offer component location services to young spellcasters, and/or to veterans for a fee?

However, Goldfarb's news is on hiatus until further notice, and Elke just isn't that mercenary!

The reason for putting it in on the Mage's Guild noticeboard is that the guild resources, as far as I can tell, just aren't used that often (the School of Wonder that is) and putting -something- on that noticeboard would be nice. It would be nice to have guild standard prices for goods as well (isn't that what a guild used to do, regulate prices so no one was undercutting one another or overcharging)?

As well as this, just putting it on a public noticeboard seems a bit nonesensical. After all, what do all the non-wizards care? Well, maybe some of the clerics care ;) but keeping it within the guild makes more sense in terms of maintaining a certain level of exclusivity...

Also, that way, instead of pestering Gesine until she tells Elke what she thinks a fair price to sell brightstones at is, there would be guidelines for prices...

There's a certain elven mage of Mielikki who's been wanting to regulate prices since she was an apprentice. Speak to her! :D
