Tower of Luck: Waterdeep
Tower of Luck
{E0}The large circular floor of this small albeit richly furnished tower is in
fact a temple to {70}Lady Luck{E0}. Around the northwall behind the large altar is
a circular staircase leading up to the higher levels meant only for those
of the church clergy and sometimes visiting members from afar. A few pews
are placed before the {70}altar {E0}for those who wish to take a seat and listen
to the clergy speak are here. While scattered about the rest of the room
tapestries and tables of various games, such as lanceboard, cards, dice,
and roulette. The walls that remain bare of tapestries are covered in
{70}mosaics {E0}of the goddesses past.
(look Altar) {E0}This large altar is formed of {70}forged silver coins {E0}welded to
gether to make a large dais that is pile with various things
ranging from rabbits feet, to random coins, and other odd
things the faithful have left they felt are lucky.
(Look Mosaic) {E0}This large mosaic is formed of many tiny {70}c{C0}o{70}l{C0}o{70}r{C0}e{70}d {E0pieces of
porcelain. As a whole it depics Tyche split down the middle
with Tymora on one side backed by Selune, Azuth, and Lathander.
On the other Beshaba. Her face left obscured almost purposefully.
Is anyone covering Ilmaters temple yet? I can do that next if not. Hmm or any other small temples in Waterdeep that need redoing.

All of the mini temples need hitting. If you're up for it - by all means take them!

Re: Tower of Luck: Waterdeep
K I'll take them what other mini temples are there? I asked Dalvyn about expanding the tower of luck to, but um... I know Ilmater/Tempus/Gond any more that I am missing?
What you think of the tower of luck one? I am trying to find source books on what proper decorations would be inside there respective temples.

Re: Tower of Luck: Waterdeep
One issue I've always had or had until a few years ago was that the Plinth was sort of converted into an unfinished temple of Ilmater, the Plinth in canon sources is actually a temple to all the gods without temples in Waterdeep. However over the years that has changed as we don't exactly follow canon in reference to temples, which is fine. I'd still suggest that the Plinth be directed at no god in particular, but I'd leave that up the builder redoing the room desc.

I was wondering if any of yall have information on the plinth. I want to get it right and canon and all that so if anyone has some sources to share I'd be appreciative.

Taken from Rand's Travelogue at http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp? ... 20020605rt
Plinth: Located in Trades Ward, this set of sacred rocks is kept as a place of worship and meditation for all faiths. Many long-dead deities hear from their worshipers only at the feet of the Plinth. For the record, the Monks of the Old Order eschew worship at the Plinth, preferring to leave their departed god alone, if in fact they ever had a god.
The giant stones of the Plinth are always festooned with flowers and other offerings. Anyone wishing for a sense of the diversity of Faerûn need spend only an hour near the Plinth. Guards from the City Watch usually stand by as well, but not for their edification: They break up theological discussions that turn violent.

Aye I got that from you last night. So the plinth is like a bunch of rocks?

Re: Tower of Luck: Waterdeep
The original Plinth description before the change was made roughly in 2004 was that it was a room where all followers of gods in Waterdeep with no temples of their own could be worshipped. A plinth by contrast is a base or platform structure in architecture. When I think of the plinth though, I think of a Henge, a large open area with free standing stone structures or earthworks. Sort of like Stone Henge but more condensed.

Re: Tower of Luck: Waterdeep
So what about the big "non-denominational" Temple of Waterdeep in game? Is that based on anything in canon?
Re: Tower of Luck: Waterdeep
I think it is unique to the game. It is mostly a quest device. Despite it looking non denominational it is actually geared towards Tyr, Torm and Ilmater in the religious iconography inside. It more than likely was made for the city either as something preloaded or as something that predates other specific temples in Waterdeep. That, I do not know for sure. We could easily just rename it as a temple to the Triad.

Re: Tower of Luck: Waterdeep
Thanks gwain! I got that it was a buncha stone structures from the website but I needed a mental image! You got me that really well. I'm thinking a few nondescript pedestals with random stone structures an some ancient weathered statues that could be any number of dieties living or dead.

Tempus and Plinth Done
Temple of Tempus WD:
{80}This large vaulted temple is of moderate size. Large statues and
busts of ancient warriors well known in Tempurian lore line the
walls here. The floor is cut marble with deep red veins making
footfalls that walk upon it echo in this place of worship. Near
the back wall is a large {90}altar {80}for the faithful to pray and ask
for there gods aid in there many endeavors. While very spartan in
furnishing there are many pews so many might sit in attendance to
any sermons the clergy might wish to carry out. A small alcove
behind the altar houses a small stairwell to the crypts of fallen
heroes below.
(look altar) {90}This large altar is cut from a block red quartz. Encased
within is a large two handed sword with a blade sheathed in fiery flames.
When touched the altar is warm to the touch even though the heat is felt
without ill effect from the fire within it. Piled atop the altar are bowls
with musky incenses along with fine weapons and pieces of armour left by
the more devout.
The plinth:
{30}A short path leads up to a circle of ancient worn stone {80}structures {30}and statues.
With a large rough stoned altar place at it's center marks this as a place of
worship. The ancient stones are all worn from time and the natural elements making
it hard to decipher what exactly they where before. Many priests of various
churches are moving about the area some in theological debate. A small contingent
of guards is stationed just at the perimeter in case any debates turn violent.
(look stones statues structures?) {30}The structures and ancient statues themselves are
mostly worn pillars of stone that faintly resemble a humanoid shape. Along with large
stones blocks stacked together some making a faint resemblance to archways. Even in
there crumbling state they still stand rebelling against the elements that would
otherwise see them fall.
Now to do Gond
