I was wondering somethign and would like to know what you think about it.
Situation: A few dwarves setting up for a mining expedition, they take a cleric along to do it easier (revive ftw!).
Now, would it be IC for the cleric to find a room in an inn, begin to meditate, do a forget all, memorize 50 revive (that's an example, not actual numbers) and then meditate until he's become a revive'o'matic and then go on mining expedition.
After the expedition, he would find an inn, rehaul his memorization list to his basic one and tadam he's back to usual.
I can see that in several situations other than mining. Globally I don't have a problem with that on tabletop as it consumes you one day of adventure and it could be crucial, but on the mud it takes 10/15 minutes to have all spells back.
So I'm asking: code abuse, IC situation (preparing his spell list depending on your plans), borderline considering the easiness to do it using ingame aliases, or simply bad roleplay and should not even have think about doing that.
This is something I just came up with and would like to know how you feel about that.
Thanks for your time,
Brar

Speaking both from the priest point of view and, of course, Gilain's... It all depends how you walk the line. Honestly, I rarely see folks mining in groups and I mean very rarely. For sake of argument, we'll say some folks are group mining often.
Now, there is nothing wrong with loading up with 50 revives and going with the miners. Can you really say that is much different than loading up with cure wounds spells and go hunting goblins or umber hulks? I can't.
The line walking moment becomes what that priest and those miners are doing WHILE mining. Are they talking, emoting, or doing some kind of RP at all? Then no problems. If we have a group sitting in a cave for 2 hours, not a word spoken, just a series of mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, revive, repeat... THEN we have a problem.
Interaction: good. Revive/healbot: Bad. FK is about RP and fun, not grind grind grind.
I am only speaking for me. This is in no way an official opinion. Take it as you will.

You do not need to change the world, merely leave it a little better than how you found it.

Re: Complete memorization list change
Actually, this is something I have done a lot lot. Clear a memory to fill it with revives to mine.
It's definitely not code abuse to use your spells how you want them!
If people want to sit quietly in a tunnel and mine(plus revive to keep mining) until their heart is content there's really nothing wrong about that. Do you think in real life miners are chatting it up for their entire work shift? They're busy guys, trying to carefully extract things! If two or three people sit quiet in a room alone for five hours mining it's not hurting anyone or anything. They risk the potential of missing out on RP themselves, that's about it!

Re: Complete memorization list change
Well, due to past painful experience, I devellopped a sense to rp while mining, it is easy to set up rules for that (the 5 mining pause rules works great).
More seriously, thanks for your input. Now I think I'll organise mining trips soon enough, it is always more fun to do it with peoples than alone, even if it goes faster alone, but who cares, the fun is better than the optimisation!!

Nope, but they do say something sometime. "Hand me that hammer", "want to take a smoke break?", "what was the score of the game last night?", ect.Mele wrote: Do you think in real life miners are chatting it up for their entire work shift?
Wasn't suggestion folks constantly talk and emote while mining. I can't do that myself, hehe.
Still, 2 hours of nothing but mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, revive, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, revive, meditate... with the occassional food/water break in a room of 2+ folks just seems wrong to me. Toss in a sneeze or stretch emote. Remind the world you are not a bot program!!! Thats all I was suggesting.
