An Avatar question

I kind of know what Avatars are, but I don't know what they are for in the game... Why would you supplicate for one?

Im not even sure if that works anymore actually.....

Avatars are whenever you see a deity on Faerun, thats their avatar. They can come down and help you in your fights and the like (thats supplicating), im guessing it just creates a avatar mob. Someone else can probably give a better explanation but I think thats the jist of it.
Glim asks Gwain 'Can I be on the watch?!?'
Gwain raises an eyebrow.
Gwain seems to display a look of complete horror for a second...

In the case of supplication Avatars are used to help one out in a sticky situation, or to alow communication with one's god(ess). They might grant special gifts or knowledge. They might be able to cast helpful spells on you.. etc.

They work - if you want to know exactly what an avatar is capable of, in a supplication sense, then supplicate one ICly and find out :) Otherwise it'd be the same as saying what the Cloak of Disintegration I supplicated does...
