I cannot wait for Japan v Paraguay after tonight. I'm betting that Keisuke Honda will sign for a fancy European club before the end of the summer.

I only caught the first 45 while I was at the gym. Was amazing getting everything else on Sportscenter later. Was impressed Japan fielded so well.

She told the truth :D Cheerio! Thomas Mueller is fantastic and Oezil, man, that guy is fast. And nobody here really thought a team young like that would get over their first game at all.

I don't understand how this sport can exist and stay so popular by just ignoring that it's impossible to correctly referee the game without instant replay.

I'm not saying the Germans didn't outplay the English...but it's an entirely different game 2-2. What an atrocious way to be knocked out of the biggest tournament in the world. I felt sick to my stomach just imagining what the british fans must have been feeling, since we felt the same way against both Slovenia and Algeria

FIFA insisting that technology (replay) has no place in soccer is dominating the American sports news broadcasting. The hypocrisy of saying soccer is meant to be played and officiated without any technology, but then forcing the referees to wear ear pieces...is just ridiculous.

Could you imagine losing a bet on that game? Or an over/under? Ugh, feels like boxing to me.

Congratulations Germany. You looked good. It's unfortunate the officiating over shadowed how passionate your young team played.

Yes. Must say the germans more than deserved the win. Don't think that goal would have made any difference!
Anyway back to club football next season. Come on the baggies!

Doc! I was talking about Germany! The English team's average age was like 38. And Rooney looks 48.

I may pick up the MLS package here, and give the sport an honest shot. It just kills me that our team can look so promising and then, boom, the sport is over for the entire United States for at least 4 more years. Then by the time the next tournament for men comes around there are only 6 players you even remotely remember. So you invest fervently into catching up on all the history about the players and where they play and going over highlights...and then it's gone.

Gone for another 48 months...at least on this side. I'll miss you Alexi Lalas and John Harkes.
