Noteboard and piece of parchment availability
Another stupid idea, knowing the very low prices of parchment and the non-availability of those near some noteboards, would it not be possible to have a a "pick" command on noteboard that gives a piece of parchement to make a post.
I found it just odd to have a noteboard somewhere and have to go to the nearby city many leagues from here just to make a note post and would also remove the problem of them being out of stock and thus being unable to make a post.
You would still have to have a quill of course
Just an idea,

Unfortunately that would quickly be abused for the sake of getting parchment in general.
What about posting up some mobs and their areas who sell parchments to apps so the amount allowed can be raised? :)

Beshaba potatoes.

Good time to ask for a Mithril Hall supply of parchment/quills? We have a message board but have to travel out of town for writing equipment. Always thought that was odd.Mele wrote: What about posting up some mobs and their areas who sell parchments to apps so the amount allowed can be raised?

You do not need to change the world, merely leave it a little better than how you found it.

Re: Noteboard and piece of parchment availability
I turn it all around in my head and I fail to see how being able to get a piece of paper that costs 1 silver can even be abuse...Mele wrote:Unfortunately that would quickly be abused for the sake of getting parchment in general.
You can even say that you need to put 1 silver in a magic contribution bowl and it gives you a magic note, if the problem is that you will have free access to a one twentyth of a bandit kill worth item to add some rp to the game...
And the problem is not the stock of the mobs, it is more there complete abscence or availability for some characters in certain region... MH being a good example but there are others.
I mean, piece of parchment is a pure rp item, so why limit it so much?
Simple question is "who will it hurts to have a "note ditributor machine" on each noteboard?"
It even can be a Gondish invention. Like a candy machine but gives note of paper instead...
And people know I'm quite the hardcore guy (heck, I even started the discussion about completly removing the natural healing), but I really find it pointless to have to spend several RL hours of IC looking for an item that gives nothing but adds to rp, there is no personnal benefits or anything, just add to the overall rp of everyone.
And yeah it bugged me to hell and I'm pissed about that, I don't deny it.

I _thought_ that I had fixed it so that writing materials were never out of stock - is this not the case?
Re: Noteboard and piece of parchment availability
The way I'm reading it, the problem isn't that parchment vendors run out of parchment. The problem seems to be that there are no such vendors in some regions of the game. At least I think that's what's meant here.Mask wrote:I _thought_ that I had fixed it so that writing materials were never out of stock - is this not the case?
Having someone near the noteboards that sells quills and parchment makes perfect sense. It's where the demand's at. It'd also make sense for them to charge extra for those materials. I can see it now: a young street urchin who goes and buys up the quills and parchment to resell to adventurers who are too lazy to go looking for it themselves. He'd probably make a killing, and PCs would have their easy access to writing supplies for a slight (to adventurers) cost increase.

Sorry if my post was misunderstood. I have no problems finding writing materials, when needed. Mele's comment reminded me that MH is void of materials and it seem to fit the topic.

Nah, it's precisly the point. You have no problem finding paper knowing the game and being high level, imagine a starting dwarf having to travel to Silverymoon or Waterdeep to be able to post on the board of MH.Nysan wrote:Sorry if my post was misunderstood. And Marty, it was not a problem of out of stock (I just anticipated that one forgetting your utmostness ) It was really the non finding of any such items in a certain area and the "towns" around it, and yes I tried to find it IC and I asked ICly and only ICly...
But then, it is no big deal you know, just a suggestion among others. I still have plenty to set afoot and bugs everyone with them

If i can add to this post, it might be nice to have a few more message posts around. Currently i can get paper in pen in Menzo and have nowhere to stick it. (suggestions not required.)
