The Bowlord of Tethyr's Archery Contest

Post by The Town Crier » Mon May 02, 2011 4:47 am

"Have many friends ... but know where they keep their weapons." -Famous Tethyr Proverb (Empire of the Sands, TSR 9224)
Stettar Voh! May the gods' Power keep you well! The Bowlord of Tethyr invites all who are not enemies of Tethyr able to bend a bow to show him where they keep their bows! (This does, implicity, deny orcs and drow from participation! Half-orcs are ...tolerated.) Archers will compete against one another in an effort to overtake the scores posted by the Bowlord himself (who will host this event). To the rules, good fellows...
  • Bows must be mundane (there will be some provided)
  • Arrows must be mundane (there will be some provided - long and short)
  • Magical trinkets and spells must not affect the archers as they compete
  • Drow and orc archers or attendants are forbidden
  • Entry cost is one Zazesspur Gulder (1 platinum coin), payable upon arrival
  • Spectators may watch and cheer for free
The competition will be located near to Castle Tethyr itself and may be reached by simply following the Trade Way south along the coast until you've reached the castle. (There will be a new exit there to the venue.) The Merchant's League, a trade coster based from Baldur's Gate, has also promised to provide wares for the discerning archer - available only to those who compete. Not to bar anyone willing, there will be also teachers available to tutor the untutored in the bending of the bow.

This event will be held Sunday the 8th of May at 1900 UTC. (Time and date.)

Alas, nor Brar nor Loren will be here, we're celebrating my birthday with some friends and will probably be in no shape to do that :)

That's Mothers' Day in the United States. I'm not sure whether or not that will diminish attendance.

I do not see enough affirmative interest to hold this tomorrow. Is next weekend (same time-ish on Sunday) better?

Considering the response, can I suggest the 22nd?

Okay. If there is a good amount of interest for that day then we can move it to then. Anyone else?

For clarity: this will not be held tomorrow.

I should be down with the 22nd, or that weekend in general.

You know, I would like to attend this just for LOLs on my non-proficient fighter, but I think I'll be out of town if my dad is accurate as to when my family is visiting. Just in case I can't, is there anyone who can log the event for me? <3
