Identify Scrolls and cleric's understanding
Identify Scrolls and cleric's understanding
I tried to use an identify scroll as a cleric and I recieved the echo that it was beyond my understanding. Is this because it is a spell outside of the clerical sphere and a wizard spell only? If so, I would suggest allowing all classes that can recite scrolls the ability to use identify scrolls to identify items. There are not as many wizards as there are clerics right now, and an enterprising wizard could scribe these scrolls and make them available to clerics.

Silly question: Do you have the new "read magic" skill?

Re: Identify Scrolls and cleric's understanding
No I do not. I was able to identify the scroll. Are you required to have the read magic skill? I did not see it in my skill list so I assumed as long as you can discover the nature of the scroll you could recite it.

I'm not certain. Mask's recent post regarding hard code updates and scrolls leaves one wondering if it is, in fact, required. It makes it sound like it is, but I dunno.

I've got this ability 'read magic' as a spell and not a skill. Have you tried casting it Gwain?

Re: Identify Scrolls and cleric's understanding
I have and I am experiencing the same results. I believe you can't recite the spell unless its in your spell list.

You dont have it set in the 0 level spells?

Re: Identify Scrolls and cleric's understanding
Correct. You can only recite a scroll if you can learn it. i.e. clerics can only recite scrolls containing cleric spells, wizards can only recite scrolls containing wizard spells.Gwain wrote:I have and I am experiencing the same results.
