Hitall was disabled and trainers for it have been removed. Riposte does work to my knowledge; I see the echoes with my PC, while I do note that some NPCs are able to riposte with "incorrect" weapons (don't make me get into a swordplay comparison between RL and fantasy games).

RE: staffmaking, I am not totally certain, but I believe that was intentionally omitted during the trade overhaul. To my knowledge, there are no trainers for it; it just isn't finished. I don't believe that it is broken per se.

Hm. That's curious. I've had it at skill level 1 on my thief (who exclusively uses piercing weapons) for nearing four hundred hours and have never seen echos or skill ups relating to it. Never seen any other PCs manage to riposte, either.

Sithiel, if you're interested in spells, also, disease is still on its appropriate spells lists but has been removed from the game. Off the top of my head I can't think of any others that haven't already been noted above.

May just be bad luck but I Haven't seen skulk used in game yet and lesser / normal globe of invulnerability are still out of working order.
I trained up double-edged bananas because the uber-plantain of doom I scored from the beehive quest was the best weapon in the game. Now it's being treated like a bug and they have gimped its damage! That's not fair! My character is ruined!

Is there a help file or forum post listing color codes which are then in turn tagged with what color they are?

Also, not sure if this will be helpful to anyone, but for those who have trouble with seeing/differentiating colors...

{10} = dark red
{20} = dark green
{30} = gold or a brownish... Somewhere in that area.
{40} = dark blue
{50} = purple
{60} = turquoise (Whatever that is)
{70} = light grey
{80} = dark grey
{90} = red
{A0} = green
{B0} = yellow
{C0} = blue
{D0} = pink
{E0} = light blue
{F0} = white

Thanks Areia.

For the record help color codes brings up a list of test{00} which I assume are colorized but no actual worded tags.

Test {00} - black
Test{ 01} - red
Test {02} - green
Test {03} - kinda yellow
Test {04} - blue
Test {05} - pink
Test {06} - sky blue
Test {07} - kinda grey
Test {08} - white writing
Test {09} - blue writing

Those are kinda background colors. You could use {00} if you wanted empty 'black' areas against the black background, to make signs, for example
or {03} if you wanted to create blocks of kinda yellow/brownish color.

Whilst in combat, what do people use to cancel prepped actions?

To clarify:

Code: Select all

A stone goblin approaches you and prepares to engage you in combat!
You prepare to get charcoal bag...
What command would you rather prep so you don't eat an AOO?

Put in a command that has no delay?

Like a say or an emote, especially if put into an alias.

I'm somewhat certain smotes, says, and the like won't stop you from doing whatever it is you've prepared to do for that round.

When this happens, I usually just throw whatever spell comes quickest to my fingers, or kick, etc. I don't think there's a way to just cancel the action you've prepared and take the normal autoattacks the PC gets instead. Would be a nice addition, though.

Ah, kick, kick is a good one.

And no, any command that operates outside the combat round will not overrite one that is.

Do specialist wizards learn their school's spells more quickly than mages and other specialists not of that school?

I feel like my specialist is just flying through her skill gains in her chosen school's spells... Like for example, She's hit adept in about three weeks with a spell that took my mage several months to get to that level.

On the other hand, I feel like the spells that are not of her chosen school are increasing perhaps at a slightly slower rate than they did for my mage?

I'd be interested to know whether these observations are correct. Would add another thing to consider in the to-specialize-or-generalize argument, and would explain how all those specialists have GM'd their spells in what feels like way less time than it's taking Areia to master them. :D

I believe specialists do. I can't find it right now but I swear I came across a thread saying something to that measure.

Honestly at this point I think the current system makes mages better to the point that the only way to give specialists a genuine advantage would be so extreme that it wouldn't balance well.

Instead if any serious thought is being put into the future of wizards on FK. I would propose a mix of fifth edition and 3.5 where mages are your basic Masters before you pick a school specialty to do your PHD in and become a full professor.

In short, finish SoW and you become a mage automatically. Then after level 50 you can pick a specialty or choose to remain a mage with each school having no opposed schools. You get the extra spell slot per level for your school and can grand master the spells of your school.

Basically the main issues are that.

Magic in dnd is shoddy. Each spell is a special snowflake that breaks one of the standard rules in some way and because of this, there are too many considerations and uses with most of them that an automated platform like a mud doesn't deal well with them. I genuinely see no point at which simply adding spells will balance out the schools.

It would be much easier to make a standard base for the class and add extra, appropriate benefits for specializing. Perhaps don't gain any spell slots for specializing and just the chance to Gm plus access to greater spellfocus trainers in that guild. Though I'd push for the extra spell slots mostly because as far as I've seen, 9 extra slots are a nice way to push past the extra one and a half tiems more Hp that wizards have to deal with in each mob.

Before all that though. To add something appropriate to this thread. I've seen posts on here about at least balancing out the banned schools as old as 2010 if not before but to date they're still imbalanced with some schools only having 1 banned school and others having 2.

Is there some problem with updating them or is it believed that invokers still somehow merit two banned schools? while conjurers only somehow net one?

If you wanted to send a letter to an NPC in game. Who do youmail it to? Or do you mail it to an admin name and put the NPC name and location in the letter.

And if so, which admin accepts and reads these letters in order ot know which to send it to?

Anything you send through the mail ends up in a storage room for posts, and can be acquired by admins or imms. I know that boxes are flagged with who sent them through invisible code and I assume the same for letters, though it might still be a good idea to sign them ic.

Is there anything that would ping an IM to actually check though? Without an app that is.

I keep this around for when I am building. It helps out a ton and I don't have to go to the help files to check all the time. Hope it helps!

You can just address mail to an NPC and it will be seen.
