The Adoubement of Sir Oestrial of Mystra

Post by Harroghty » Thu Mar 01, 2012 11:26 pm

Congratulations to our newest paladin: Sir Oestrial of Mystra.
Vaelania pulls the book to her body, gazing over it briefly, her fingers brushing over the sapphires. She turns to you, inclinging her head, 'At your will.'.
Sir Balants bows his head slightly to Vaelania. 'As you wish, Dweomerkeeper.'.
Tyeslan eyes the book a moment before turning her eyes toward you.
Sir Balants walks back to the end of the room for a moment and peers into the hallway. This way, then that.
Oestrial steps back and lowers his head for a moment only as he looks back up with his crystalline gaze upon the gathering.
Sir Balants turns back around and faces Vaelania and Adon. He bows his head to both. 'Dweomerkeeper. The hall is assembled as it will be.'.
Sir Balants walks back down to stand before Oestrial, a little bit to Vaelania's side.
Vaelania lowers her head briefly to you, her gaze on Oestrial.
Sir Balants raises his voice, looking out over the hall. 'Candidates for knighthood. Declare yourselves.'.
Oestrial reaches his left hand behind his back, instinctively searching out his other hand and finally giving up to lay it behind his back as he seems stunned to your words 'I...' he begins to say before speaking out in a more clear, firm tone 'Squire Oestrial Vartuth, Sir.'.
Tyeslan shifts her gaze to Oestrial with a warm smile, standing a little off to the side.
Sir Balants does not look down at first, but lingers looking out over the room. Finally his eyes dip down to Oestrial. 'Approach then the altar, squire Oestrial. And kneel.'.
Oestrial leaves no hesitation upon order, his steps coming with measured movement until he reaches the altar. Right knee drops before his left, his hand steadying now off to his side as he places himself before the altar before him.
Oestrial bows their head and prays.
Oestrial kneels down.
Sir Balants waits a moment then, satisfied, he raises his gaze. 'Which faithful servant of Our Lady of Spells then will speak and vouch for this man's quality?'.
Vaelania raises her head, 'I shall vow for him.'.
Sir Balants dips his chin. 'Then, with your permission, Dweomerkeeper. I would give him the first token of his chivalry.'.
Vaelania turns to you, lowering her head, 'Please.'.
Sir Balants walks behind Oestrial and bends at the waist, applying a spur to each of the man's heals carefully.
Oestrial remains unmoving, eyes focused to the altar alone as he listens only to each motion and movement around him.
Sir Balants nods to Vaelania, resuming his place beside the altar.
Vaelania steps lightly towards Oestrial, taking a sword in her hands.
Vaelania holds a shimmering warsword with a silver-chased hilt and a sapphire in its pommel in both of her hands.
Oestrial allows his eyes to flick upwards, breath held tightly as he watches Vaelania with sword at hand.
Vaelania tapes Oestrial three places as she speaks, his left shoulder, right, then the top of his head, 'Oestrial Vartuth, in the name of Mystra, the Lady of Mysteries, and her church be thou a good knight, and true.'.
Tyeslan clears her throat, watching each movement in silence.
A faint blue glow begins to glow over the sword...
The same glow spreads over Vaelania's hands. Little sparks of fae energy pop and dance around them.
Vaelania steps back lightly, holding the pommel of the sword in show to Oestrial, 'Now lay your hand upon this hilt. Are you prepared to offer your fealty again to Mother of All Magic?'.
Tyeslan presses her palms together, eyes following the movement of energy with a look of awe.
Oestrial looks upon Vaelania wide eyed, his face showing comprehension of the words but clear intent given upon the spreading glow. With no delay, his left hand comes up to the hilt of the blade, wrapping around slowly 'Would there ever be a life I would want, it was this. Was there ever a life to give, it was for Her. Till my breath is gone, Mystra is my Lady and my body serves Her without fail'.
Vaelania bows her head as she speaks, 'By your oath I give unto you my own, to serve faithfully as your Dweomerkeeper, and lead Her children to all serve their own roles.' she lifts her head, 'I will guide, and encourage but also chastise in times of need. The Lady of Mysteries bind us forever to these oaths.'.
Vaelania makes a small motion to lean forward, pulling Oestrial to his feet. Both of their hands remain on the sword as Oestrial rises, but once he is on his feet Vaelania releases her end.
Oestrial pulls the blade to his body, carefully turning the tip of the blade away and pointing it downwards as the light sweeps over wrapping him over.
Sir Balants clears his throat and says, 'Sir Oestrial of Mystra!'.
Tyeslan bows her head to Oestrial before giving a squeak, and clapping her hands.
Oestrial has been blessed by his patron!
Vaelania clasps her hands together in a single clap, smiling brightly as she inclines her head.
Oestrial whispers the same name Sir Balants mentions, 'Sir Oestrial' flowing off his lips as he forgets his own self and smiles widely.
