This free online resource has a -ton- of information on archery through the ages. I particularly enjoyed Hunting with the Bow and Arrow by Pope Saxton and its chapters on making bows and arrows.
Mind some of the information isn't accurate/timely, but bow and arrow basics haven't changed that much!
