Changes to the lawkeepers of Waterdeep

Post by Althasizor » Thu May 07, 2015 6:24 pm

So with the recent clause added to a law of Waterdeep making it illegal to enforce that law(About banned creatures), I'd like to suggest changing the mobiles to respond to those races. Tiefling, halfdrow, etc. are now explicitly protected from reprimand by players while breaking city law, and the mobiles still don't do anything to enforce those laws themselves.

It seems strange that an addendum should hold more weight than the law it's posted under! Strange as well, from an IC-perspective, that the Lords/guards would care more for 'vigilante' enforcement, than the actually established law being broken. I'd be willing to write the programs myself, on request!

That was like that when I got here.

As far as I'm aware, tieflings and half-drow aren't instantly kicked out by code because code has no way of determining whether or not the characters have their infernal/drow features hidden from sight, ie. wearing a cowl, heavy cloak, staying to back alleys, etc.

If there's a problem with a player flaunting their heritage, hanging out in MS and praising the spider goddess with a little spider circus, etc., etc., then I recommend either bringing it up with them via otell, or if you're not comftorable with that, submitting a complaint so the imms can deal with it.

The mobiles do respond, but its a low rated % of the time, but the longer they loiter the more likely the code kicks in and the character is noticed. Also, the city never allowed vigilantism, fighting was supposed to be taken to the fields of triumph or outside the walls.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Spelling is not necessarily correct :)

I'm happy you've been appraised on it then, Gwain! An update would have saved us a thread. :) Thanks
