I believe I may have brought this idea up a long time ago, but I cant remember what was even said.
Anyways, I was curious if it made sense for a class different than a priest be the main leader of some faiths? I am not asking for the idea, just curious what people think. My main thinking is in the faiths that more look to strength as their main attribute. This works best for my deity of course (Malar). Through much that I have read on Malar, and the stack grows as more random ideas for characters pass, I have seen a lot that says the strongest person is the "Huntmaster" or leader of the faith in different sects and areas. Now this may be a priest, fighter, or really any class. Its just all based on a constant challenge for power. Its almost commonplace to be fighting for it. I know this looks like a blatant advertisement for my character to lead, but I assure you that is not what this is. I have been leading without a title for a long amount of time when it comes to Malar's faith. My main hope is just to bring up opinions. I would like to see some interesting rp happen with my faith and others that are somewhat geared towards this idea. I think it would be much more than appointing a priest as leader. Ideas?

A young male human looks at your claw, his eyes widen, "Wha-what is that on your claw?"
You look to the claw, stopping abruptly
You yell, "Git et off! Git et off!" and begin to hop up and down, shaking your hand,
voice turning to a girlish scream!

The problem with the constant power struggling is that in the mud the 'strongest' class would always win. Its hard to find some priests that can go toe to toe with a fighter, let alone one that was tweaked to kingdom come. In Table Top, A high level priest can most definitely keep his own against a fighter becuase even combat is more related to how you play your character rather than letting the code decide. It would be good to be able to have your position set by who is the strongest and allow anyone to challenge you at any time, but it would only be a matter of time that someone whos twinked comes after you, and now you lose your position to one who truely doesnt deserve it.

I understand you thinking Rhytania and agree with most of it.
My main thought is just that. In FK, there are some faiths where the most known/influencial character is not a priest. I was just entertaining the idea that reputation and actually how much you project your deity across the realms could dictate who gets the high position, this could be any class. I realize that preists fighting other classes would be tough, and almost, for lack of a better word , stupid in some cases. Of course in most readings, the huntmaster is actually a druid a good portion of the time with some ranger tendancies. If that were possible here, I would do it. With that setup, it would be more than possible to trash competition. Although, more importantly than that, I still think reputation and the "presence" that you bring should be the highest facter. Whether or not that should transcend class....well, you heard my opinion, but its apparently not up for debate So that is that.

Why do you need a title in front of your name on the who list to be known as someone really big in a faith? Tempus's faith has Marcus who is the High Priest, yet it also has Selveem who many people know as one of the top fighters in Tempus's faith. Just because you have a hero title does not instantly give you respect and notoriety. Often you have the respect, notoriety, and everything else that goes along with it before you even get the Hero title. When it comes down to it, you decide with your own IC ambition, input, roleplay, and contact with your God to decide just how important your character is within the faith.
A sapphire haired male aasimar replies to you 'What would you get Tanya for a wedding present?'
You reply to A sapphire haired male aasimar 'A swift kick to the head. '

Really?
Anyways, I knew all that. As I said in the beginning, this is just a random idea, not a campaign. I just thought it could be an interesting idea if the High person was not limited to a priest. Thats was it....simple as that.
